Hazardous locations

Built for hazardous and regulated sites

Much of our work is inside operating facilities with classified hazardous areas: bulk fuel and propane terminals, LNG facilities, oil and gas terminals and transportation sites across New England.

We install, upgrade and maintain electrical systems in those areas, including Class I, Division 1 locations. We are used to working inside live operations, where downtime, safety and regulations all call for careful planning.

Quality control

Tested before start-up

Safety and quality control are part of every installation. Our long attention to signal shielding and circuit separation has given customers many years of trouble-free control installations.

Every conductor is tested before the system goes live, and loop checks and simulations come before start-up, so start-up holds no surprises.

Panel shop

Control panels built in our own shop

We build custom control panels in our own panel shop, with heat-shrink conductor marking and engraved labels, so every panel leaves as a finished, factory-built product.

Order a stand-alone panel, or have us build it and install it with the rest of the electrical work. Both get the same shop and the same standard.

24-hour service

Emergency service around the clock

Our service division provides 24-hour emergency service to troubleshoot and repair power, controls, automation, gas and fire detection, emergency power and lighting systems.

Our service trucks carry the tools, test equipment and materials our crews routinely need, so they can diagnose and repair without waiting on basic parts. For emergency service, call 978-640-0440.

Questions

Common questions

All questions

Do you work in classified hazardous locations?

Yes. DuCom installs and maintains electrical systems in classified hazardous locations, including Class I, Division 1 areas, at bulk fuel and propane terminals, LNG facilities, oil and gas terminals and other industrial sites. We are used to working inside live operations and plan each job around the facility's schedule and safety rules.

Do you offer 24-hour emergency service?

Yes. Our service division provides 24-hour emergency service to troubleshoot and repair power, controls, automation, gas and fire detection, emergency power and lighting systems. Call 978-640-0440.

Can you build a control panel without doing the installation?

Yes. DuCom builds stand-alone control panels in its own panel shop, and also builds panels that our crews install along with the rest of the electrical work. Both get heat-shrink conductor marking, engraved labels and the same build quality.

How do you test new electrical work before start-up?

Every conductor from 120 to 15,000 volts is megger tested after installation, and conductors over 600 volts are hi-pot tested before they are energized. Loop checks and simulations follow, so start-up holds no surprises.
